Hex Mountain, Cle Elum, Washington — Fine Art Print

Hex Mountain will always be a special one for me because it was one of the very first hikes I did after moving to Cle Elum in 2020.

Set in the mountains above Cle Elum, Hex Mountain is a much-loved winter destination for hikers, snowshoers, and snowmobilers. It’s especially well known locally as a popular snowmobile area, with wide-open snowy terrain, forested ridges, and expansive mountain views that make it such a memorable place to explore in winter.

This artwork was inspired by one of those cold, clear days when the snow softens every edge of the landscape and the view seems to stretch forever. I wanted to capture that sense of space and stillness, with two hikers making their way across the ridge beneath the winter sky.

Like every place in my collection, Hex Mountain is somewhere I’ve personally experienced before bringing it home to draw. The original artwork was created by hand on my iPad using my Apple Pen, with hours spent building the snowy terrain, trees, distant horizon, and atmospheric sky detail by detail.

For me, this piece is also a little snapshot of the beginning of a new chapter. I had only recently arrived in Cle Elum when I first hiked Hex Mountain, and experiences like this helped make Washington feel like home.
