Hex Mountain Puzzle

Piece by piece, bring one of my earliest Cle Elum adventures to life.

Hex Mountain was one of the first hikes I did after coming to Cle Elum, so this artwork has always felt tied to the beginning of my time here. The winter landscape, open ridgelines, snow-covered trees, and sweeping views made it one of those places that stayed with me long after the hike was over.

Like every destination in my collection, Hex Mountain is somewhere I personally experienced before bringing it home to draw. I created the original artwork by hand on my iPad using my Apple Pen, carefully building the snowy terrain, distant ridges, trees, and soft winter light one detail at a time.

Since then, I’ve learned Hex Mountain is also a popular snowmobiling area, which has made me think I may need to revisit this scene in the future and create a snowmobile version too.

The original artwork has been transformed into a 336-piece jigsaw puzzle, finished at approximately 12 × 18 inches. The snow, trees, and subtle changes in the winter sky make it a fun and satisfying puzzle to put together.

For me, Hex Mountain represents those early days of exploring Cle Elum and discovering just how much there was to see right outside my door.
