There are some places that make you feel incredibly small — in the best possible way.

Walking among the towering redwoods of Northern California is one of those experiences. Surrounded by some of the tallest trees on Earth, the forest feels quiet, ancient, and almost unreal, with sunlight filtering through the canopy and enormous trunks rising far beyond your line of sight.

The Redwoods are somewhere I’ve personally visited before bringing them home to draw. Staying true to my rule that if I haven’t been there, I don’t draw it, I wanted this piece to capture the scale and atmosphere of standing among these extraordinary trees rather than simply illustrating a generic forest.

The original artwork was created by hand on my iPad using my Apple Pen, with dozens of hours spent building the layers of trees, forest floor, light, texture, and smaller details that give the scene its depth.
